two thirds of a year!

Man, this has been a big week, let alone a big month!  On Sunday I was quite sick, so then on Monday I was quite tired.

On Tuesday Ada started crawling! Once she found she could move towards me she hasn’t stopped.

Wednesday she first demonstrated her knowledge that she and I are not one person and would-not-be-consoled-by-anyone-else, first when left at a friends place, then over dinner and at bath time too.  Poor poppet.

Thursday saw more adventures in Ada feeding herself, marmite toast is now on the menu!

Today Ada is 8 months old. Last night she woke every few hours with a blocked nose.  Happy 8 months little lady!  Your present appears to be snot.  Yay!  Ada has been the most content baby for weeks and weeks, this week she upsets easily and won't be distracted.  Her little brain is probably in overload, learning to communicate her likes and dislikes, teething, suffering a cold, clapping, waving, practicing saying dada at the right time and crawling.  I'd want a few more hugs too.

I can’t believe how fast these last 8 months have gone, I’m feeling very lucky to be at home and enjoying my little lady.

Ada and I clash skintones!

This week I have managed to change the colour of Ada’s skin, twice. Motherhood fail. On Sunday the sun was shining in the most glorious way and when Ada woke up Cam and I went for a stroll with her in the front pack. We don’t use the front pack as much as we used to and she loves it! So-much-fun. Unfortunately the strength of the NZ sun at 2.30pm on a winter’s day was no match for her brand new baby skin. Ada has had her first sunburn. Not a milestone I was intending to celebrate.

Also this week in photos of the two of us I have noticed that our skin clashes! In winter I resort to wearing some dark tones that I don’t suit that well and I look all rosy and pale (ruddy and washed out?!). Ada on the other hand has been eating pumpkin and carrot at most lunches/dinners for the past week or more and although she is more olive than me now she has a slightly orange hue. As an adult your palms change colour with a lot of beta-carotene but it seems my babies nose has got the bulk of the colour effect.

7 months!

Not a lot of blog action this past month.  I guess we have been kinda busy and I haven't had any motherhood revelations. To update everyone on the past few weeks Ada is turning into a very happy baby.  No complaints here!  Our trip to Wellington went off without a hitch, I loved catching up with everyone, having 100 half conversations while being distracted by a baby.  Ada really enjoyed all the people and new places, it was so much fun, thank you all who made it awesome!  I recommend having your baby magically fall asleep on both the way to and away from somewhere. I don't recommend trying to have her sit on the ground in the busy airport while you adjust a baby carrier before she has learnt to sit. Donk. {pick up crying baby and walk away quickly}

Week before last I went to work as a reliever for 5 days in a row. What was I thinking?  DidI not remember that work involves working?  I was relaxed about leaving Ada with family for 4/5 days and with a good friend for the other. Ada was absolutely fine with the switcheroo, just very demanding for some mothers milk when I got home each day.  By the end of the first day I realised I may be over teenagers for a while, was it that I have less patience or that I didn't care for their selfish ways…  Hmm.  Babies are definitely where it is at for me for now.  I am not sure when the next work session will be but it is good to know Ada has it sussed even if I was a little less sure!

Look at how she is growing! If only she could tell us what she is thinking...

I have teeth and soon I will have an Aunty Em in Wellington!
My Mum really likes a good cafe.
I am really, really, really thinking about crawling.

I was so PUMPED to be on this walk. Grin, grin, arm flap, arm flap, grin.
It is hilarious to pretend I play the piano.
All the ladies adore me in black and white, and also in colour.
